Get Free Flight(If only you are willing to take the next flight..)Overbooking provides opportunities! You may have experienced in the past that when your flight is overbooked, the in flight crew usually asks if there are any volunteers who can take a later flight. But of course you would find very few volunteers and so this becomes an opportunity to get your money’s worth. If there are no fixed schedules you have to stick to, you can postpone your departure by a few hours which shall entitle you to a financial compensation from the airline. In fact, when presented with such an opportunity you should always cash on it, as sometimes you can even end up getting reimbursed for the complete charges and thus a free flight.
How do I do that?In case your flight is overbooked, you might be asked at the check in counter if you would like to take a later flight. In other cases, staff in the street at the airport, announce that they have overbooked the flight and ask if anyone would like to take a later flight. (We can also advertise this as "denied boarding".) Cleanly sign up as soon as possible! Denied boarding is usually applicable on "first come first served basis. Overbooking of flights is made all the time, but often there are so many travelers that do not show up at the time of check in that it does not create any problem for the flight crew with regard to seats. You can avail of these services for instance, on a big excursion day or just before Christmas or other holidays, when the vast majority who book flights meets up and there is a greater chance that you get the chance to fly for "free". How much compensation do I get?In the form of compensation, the airline can usually offer you two options. The first is in the form of an overpaid amount with which you can travel with the same airline within one year from the date it is granted. The second option is usually cash which can be almost half the amount of the ticket charge you have initially spent. Thus, giving you cheap airfare! The usual amounts paid in compensation range in the category listed below. Please note that these reimbursements change according to varying flight carriers across the world. • € 250 for flight distances less than 1500 km. • € 400 for flight distances between a 3500 Km and 5000 Km. • € 600 for flight distances over 5000 km. You are also advised to calculate the distance of the flight. If the next flight departs from the airport under 4 hours, the airline will reimburse half the fee. If the delay is so inconsistent which makes it impossible to remain at the airport before the next scheduled flight, the airline is bound to cover all your expenses. It includes all transportation, meals, lodging, telephone, etc. You can also be offered to get free return ticket or transportation back to home if the delay is so long that you no longer want to go. This is especially true if there is no one to volunteer and the airline unfortunately has to pick one person who has to ultimately travel in the next available flight. It is thankfully not very often. The compensation packages which are offered by the airline companies may vary from place to place and depend upon the individual airline company. |
